Lift and Learn Fitness: training app
A training app built around the only metric that matters in fitness software: whether someone opens it again in week three.

The problem
What was actually hard
Fitness apps are uninstalled faster than almost any other category. The engineering is straightforward; the retention design is not. Everything had to serve the return visit rather than the first impression.
What we did
How it was built
Programs, not a library of exercises
A structured path with a clear next session, so opening the app never requires a decision the user has to make while tired.
Video that works on a gym connection
Adaptive streaming and optional downloads, because gym wifi is unreliable and mobile data is expensive.
Progress made visible
Weight, volume and consistency charted over time. Visible progress is the strongest retention mechanic available.
Subscriptions through the platforms
In-app purchase on both stores with restore, upgrade and cancellation paths handled properly.
Outcome
What shipped
Described rather than quantified, we only publish numbers a client has signed off in writing.
- Cross-platform app with structured programs and video tutorials.
- Progress tracking across weight, volume and consistency.
- Subscription billing through both app stores with full restore and cancellation handling.
